Orono Dental Care
A Great Dentist

When should my child have their first dental appointment?

According to the American Academy of Pediatric Dentists, your child should have their first dental visit by the age of one. By this age, your child will have several teeth and it is a good time for us to help them grow familiar with the sights and sounds in the dental office.

Your child’s first dental visit is a milestone! We will make it a very fun and special event. You can take pictures as we give your child a ride in the dental chair. We will encourage your little one to think of their dental visits as a fun, positive experience.

This is also a great time to discuss oral care with parents. Your child’s teeth require regular maintenance, just like yours! Brushing, flossing, and regular dental visits can create the foundation for a lifetime of good oral health.

Baby teeth are important. They provide guidance for permanent teeth and play a role in determining your child’s bite and function in the future. We will talk about ways to preserve them including healthy nutrition, and when to address certain habits such as bottle use and thumb sucking.

We believe in creating a partnership with parents that helps maintain and preserve the smiles of our littlest patients.
